We are a busy happy family of 2 working parents and 3 young children. We live in a beautiful pocket of SE London, within easy walking distance of East Dulwich and Forest Hill, and good transport links to Central London. In the local area we have a range of leisure centres, bars, cafes restaurants and cinema. There are various places that you could attend language classes if you wanted. We have a 5 Bedroom House with a large garden, where you will have a good sized bedroom with WIFI and a TV. We are really looking forward welcoming the right person to come and act like a big Sister or Brother to our children. We would like you to be someone who will engage with the children beyond simply doing homework and giving them their meals. We want them to look forward to you picking them up from school. As such you will need to be fun, caring, intelligent with a sense of humour and a love of life. We would also like you to be tidy, punctual and self disciplined and self motivated. We would like you to be a vibrant part of our family who is able to help out with daily life without having to be asked. We will be looking for someone to fit in with and help us with our busy lives. Our three children are full of life and very individual characters. Wilfred is 8 and is a real book worm who loves to read, but also plays Cricket and Tennis. He is full of energy and is witty and intelligent. He is also very keen on watching TV, something we don't allow too much of so you will need to be the TV police sometimes and you will need to help him with homework and remind him to practise his Guitar. Thea will be 7 in January and is a bright and engaging little girl. She is our arts and crafts queen, usually found at her desk making a masterpiece, or playing with her dolls or fairies. She is funny, inteliigent and a ray of sunshine, but she can also be a perfectionist who is quite stubborn and isn't as robust as her brothers. Hector will be 5 in November and is the comedian of the family. He is just starting reception at school. He is very cute and always has a funny walk to cheer the family up. He loves plants and his toy farm which he willl happily play with his various toys for hours on end. He is also totally horse mad. As a family we like to spend our free time relaxing at home and exploring London and other places nearby. We love to travel and try to go on a couple of holidays year.
We are hoping for our Au pair to have experience of working with children and with a very good level of English so that they can help our children with homework and read stories to them. We are looking for an Au Pair to help get the children ready for school every morning. You will need to help give the children breakfast and help them organise themselves before school. You will drop them all at school 4 days/ week. It is a 20 minute walk to school, but there is also a bus. You would then generally have the day free until the children need to be collected from school. We would usually only need to you collect the children 3 or4 days / week but occasionally I may have to work late and would ask that you could be flexible if something urgent comes up. School pick up is usually at 3.20 but somedays they have clubs which makes it later. There are also classes that they need to be taken to. We would work out a schedule for you so that you will always know where everyone is meant to be! Some days there will be nothing planned and on those days we would like you to use your initiative and take the children to the park, or bring them home and play with them. We would like you to be able to cook and prepare their supper as well as general tidy up and encourage them to help tidying up too. We would generally like you to eat with the children when you are looking after them. We would also expect you to bathe the children and get them ready for bed before we get home between 6.30 and 7. We have a cleaner but we would expect you to help keep the house tidy and clean as you go as we all do. We would also like you to help with the children laundry. We would also like you to be available to babysit twice/ week. One of these would be during the week (probably a Wednesday or Thursday) and once at the weekend (Friday or Saturday). Very occasionally we may ask you to do extra babysitting or help for a few hours during the day at the weekend, for which we would give you extra money. In the school holidays we would like you to be available to look after the children three full days a week. We would want you to be proactive and plan activities and adventure for you all to go on to ensure that they are entertained and active. In your free time we hope that you will find many other Au pairs in the area (and we will help you to find them!) and that you use this opportunity to explore what we consider to be one of the best cities in the world. If you specifically want to go away for weekends to see other parts of the country we are happy to shift our babysitting days to allow you to do so with prior arrangement. Overall we are looking for someone honest and trustworthy who will add a new dimension to our family life, and for whom a stay in London can enrich their experience.
