Dear au pair, We are a friendly English German family of 4 looking for a friendly au pair. We are very excited to welcome you into our home and to the UK. Emma and I have been married for 10 years now, Emma is British and I am German. Our children are Ben (9) and Lucy (6), both born here in the UK. The 5th member of our household is Katerina, our little cat. We had 2 lovely au pairs so far, our current one has to go back to Germany on 13th May, after three months. As we all enjoyed the experience a lot, we now feel brave enough to consider a longer stay for our next au pair - up to 6 months, maybe even longer. We live in Winchester, a small city one hour away by train from London. It has everything you need for shopping, culture and going out, it is rich in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside. It's a university town, so there is plenty going on. Ben and Lucy go to school close by every day, I work in London most days, but try to work from home one or two days per week, when I am not traveling. Emma is working in medical research and as a GP - mainly from home. We are lucky to have a nice house with a big garden, and Emma especially is a keen gardener. I am into running and cycling, and Ben and Lucy have a number of hobbies - dancing (both), swimming, playing with their friends, chess and of course everything that involves Ipads & Minecraft. They love each other dearly and are always playing together. They are both kind, thoughtful, independent and calm children who bring a lot of joy to the world. We are looking for some flexibility and practical help both with childcare and the household. Mainly things like: 1. Bringing and picking up the kids from school, and taking to after-school clubs. 2. On some days look after the children after school - and we hope to improve their German :-) 3. Evening meals - it would be great if you like cooking & eating together. 4. Most of the food shopping. 5. Light households duties like loading the dishwasher (we have regular cleaners once per week - so this should not be a lot of work). We would like to welcome you to our family and make this a great experience for all of us. At the same time, we are hoping for someone fairly independent, open-minded and curious about life here. You will have access to a car and bicycle and Sundays off!
