We are a young professional family, consisting of Adam (43), myself (40), Jack (6) and Ethan (3). We live in Cleveland, a seaside suburb in Brisbane Queensland, which offers a relaxed family lifestyle with lots of parks and outdoor activities to undertake. We live on the waterfront, and are 30mins by car or 1hr by train from Brisbane which is a beautiful city that has great array of social and cultural activities. There are beautiful beaches, parks, museums and cultural experiences to enjoy, along with a very diverse range of people living within the community. We have had 9 aupairs since Jack was a baby who we have developed great relationships with, our current au pairs finishes in March so we are looking for someone to join us mid-late March for 6mths. Currently Adam is required to travel for work 4 nights per week, and I work 4 days per week. We would like someone to join myself in caring for Jack and Ethan on the days I work. I work in the sporting industry and am required to attend game nights on typically a Thursday or Friday nights when the team plays at home. Pocket money for this flexibility and additional hours is included in your weekly rate. We are an active family that enjoys time outdoors. We love to spend time out on the water fishing, skiing or wakeboarding. Both of the children love time outside and are happy playing either with someone else or by themselves. As our au pair you will be required to work 2 full days and 2 part day per week, on average between 35-40hrs per week. Our 6 year old son (Jack) attends school 5 days per week and our 3 year old son (Ethan) attends daycare 2 days per week so you will be required to care for Ethan 2 full days per week. The assistance we require is a mix between childcare (approx 31-33hrs) and house cleaning (approx 4hrs) per week, however as my role is in the sporting industry, we do require flexibility on game nights so will pay weekly pocket money for 40hrs per week. You will also have unlimited internet access, fully paid use of a vehicle when not required by the family. You will be provided with a weekly schedule, however the following table summarises the hours you are required to work. Monday Free Tuesday 7am-6pm (drop Jack off at school, Ethan off at daycare and pick up) Wednesday 7-5.30pm (drop Jack off at school and pick up) Thursday 7-6pm (drop Jack off at school and pick up) Friday 7am-5pm (drop Jack off at school, Ethan off at daycare and pick up) Saturday Free Sunday Free You will be required to perform the following childcare and housework duties during work hours: • Assist with children's breakfast • Play with children • Put Ethan down for daytime sleeps • Prepare Ethan's daytime snacks and meals • General daily cleaning up after children (and yourself) • Undertake light household duties, such as cleaning the main living area/kitchen area, cleaning your bedroom and bathroom, and assisting with dinner. • Housekeeping for family (4hrs) on a Friday. You will have every Saturday, Sunday and Monday off where you can feel free to explore Brisbane. My husband works away during the week as such it will only be the two of us and the children home during the week. I leave for work at 7am and before departing I ensure the children are out of bed and have their breakfast ready. You and the children then finish breakfast and then either have school and daycare drop off or have planned activities throughout the day (as well as the use of the family car). I arrive home at approx 5.30pm which is when your day finishes! I am then responsible for the children's dinner, bath and bed time routine. I do the majority of the cooking however 2 evenings per week you will cook your own dinner. As we are a young family we have a very relaxed lifestyle so we only have a few rules to follow. Given Ethan's age, it is important to stick to the routine set out for him particularly his sleep times, however as he grows, the routine will change and I would expect some input from you as to changes we might need to make. As you will have 3 days off (Saturday, Sunday, Monday), we have no problem in you going out of an evening or on your time off, however we do expect that during the week when you are required to work that you come home of an evening, and be present every morning that you are required to work, fit for work. You will have freedom to come and go as you please during your time with us, and you are free to invite friends over with some prior notice.
