About Us Between us my husband (Amos) and I (Ariane) have three children, one boy who is 21 and lives with his mother and two daughters aged 7 (Isabelle) & 5 (Cecilia). We also have a dog, a cocker spaniel called Ruby, lots of fish & chickens. We live in a small village close to the city of Guildford in Surrey, which is less than one hour away from London by train. Our daughters really like going for muddy walks jumping in lots of puddles and exploring the beautiful woods surrounding us. Cooking and baking cakes are also always favourite activities as well as drawing and making things and there is lots of dressing up and dancing. Amos has many countryside hobbies especially in the winter months such as hunting and fishing. Isabelle and Cecilia attend the local school. I work in an office four days a week and Amos works full time from home but he is often out of the house at meetings. We are able to offer a lovely large & bright private room at the top of the house with its own private bathroom (with shower, hand basin & toilet) with Wi-Fi and TV / DVD. We also have a large garden that gets lots of sunshine in the summer, which is great for lots of BBQs with friends and children running around!
Dear Au Pair We are looking for an Au Pair to come & live with us to help look after our 2 daughters and to experience life in the English countryside. I come from a mixed European background and speak German & Flemish, but have grown up in England from the age of 4. My husband and our children are all British, so we would be able to offer a varied cultural experience. We hope that you would be able to have fun with our family whilst expanding your horizons. Our Expectations We would expect you to get the girls ready in the morning (getting dressed & breakfast) and take them to school & pick them up at 3pm and then look after them in the afternoon on the four days per week that I am at work. There are buses but a driving license is essential as the buses are not very frequent. Afternoon activities include taking them to the park, playing with friends or taking them to clubs (e.g swimming) and helping them with their homework (reading & math games) as well as preparing simple meals for them. Occasionally the working days required would be extended due to work travel, so we would need some flexibility, but we would give you plenty of advance notice and this does not happen often. The dog also needs a good walk on the 4 days as well. Although not over the top, we like our home to be clean and tidy and would need you to help with this too please, as you would at home. This includes keeping the girls room & playroom tidy, making their beds (or getting them to do it for themselves!) and some light housework, such as loading/emptying dishwasher, washing and keeping the kitchen clean and some ironing of children's school uniforms etc. We also expect you to keep your own room & bathroom clean & tidy. We would also like you to babysit up to 1 evening a week. The nearest town is Guildford, which offers ESOL language courses and has many shops and lots of entertainment facilities such as cinema, theatre, dancing, restaurants and sports centres with swimming pools, ice rink, bowling and gyms. London is 50 minutes away by train from Guildford. We would hope that you would be able to teach our daughters about your way of life too to give them a different experience as well. There are other au pairs and nannies in the local villages that I would be happy to introduce you to. We are looking for an au pair to join our family and if you think you would like to help look after our giggly & very affectionate girls, we look forward to hearing from you.
