Hello, my name is Madeleine and my children and I are looking for a warm, fun and loving au pair to join our family. I am Madelene, the mother. I am 29 years old and a studying Adult Nursing at university and need help with the children while I attend lessons and work at the hospital. I have three children - Hayden, Cara and Scarlett. - Hayden is 10 years old. He enjoys playing outdoors on his bike, singing and cooking. - Cara is 8 years old. She enjoys playing with make-up, singing, dancing and doing arts and crafts. - Scarlett is 4 years old. She enjoys playing with her toy cooker, her dolls and dressing up as Elsa from Frozen. - We live in a lively multi-cultural community in a town 30 minutes from London. Reading has lots of shops, restaurants and bars. It is a university town so there are lots of young people. - We are a warm and friendly family and we want our au pair to be a part of the family for however long they're with us. - We would love to learn about your culture and language while you are with us and we encourage you to explore, make friends and enjoy your time with us! We are a single parent family and the children stay with their father at the weekend so you will have most weekends free! You will have the opportunity to travel to the city of Bath where we often stay with family. We also often go to Paignton in The English Riviera. We will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable, happy and relaxed, anything you need - just ask!
You would mainly be expected to look after the children whilst I attend university lectures and whilst I work at local hospitals. We would prefer you to work Monday - Friday with Saturday and Sunday as free days and sometimes an additional free day in the week. You will be asked to do occasional evening babysitting whilst the children are in bed once a week or so. During term times you would be asked to look after the children before and/or after school and nursery to include preparing their simple meals and helping with some light housework if needed (e.g. keeping the kitchen tidy, light hoovering hanging out laundry). Also helping the children with their weekly homework and daily reading. Total time with the children would not exceed 30 hours a week. I will have to work early/late/12-hour shifts at hospitals. If I worked an early shift you would be asked to get the children up for school which would include making them breakfast, making sure they are dressed and at school on time. If I work a late shift the you will be asked to collect them from school and prepare their dinner and help with homework/reading. prepare a bath for them and put them to bed at 7pm. If I have to work a 12-hour shift then the tasks would involve those of the early and late shift but only 4 days a week hours still not exceeding 30.
