Hello there, We are a family of four, or soon to be four (in a month!). We live near Bilbao, in the Basque Country, Spain. Our house is a short walk from a beautiful beach called San Antonio, located in the Urdaibai natural protected space, a beautiful place to enjoy nature. We are located in between two towns called Gernika and Bermeo, 10 minutes away from each of them. They have all the needed services and the communication is good, with buses and trains working all day round. The house we live in is a three storage house with for bedrooms so the au pair will have her own bedroom and ensuite toilet. A full bathroom will be available for her on the same floor. I am a stay home mom for the time being but I constantly work on some projects I have as a NLP trainer and research. My husband is a sailor and he spends most of the time away. He is away for two months at the time and comes home just for one month. That's the main reason we need some help around the house. We considered ourselves very open minded and flexible. We have spent most our lives living abroad and traveling. Our last expedition was on a boat and lasted 4 years. After that, we decided to settle down and have family and that's what we are doing right now :) I left my home in Spain to go to Germany as an au pair when I was only 18 years old so I understand how important it is to welcome and take care of this new member of the family, but on the other hand to provide with the independence and time that she needs in order to develop her dreams. The job consists in helping me (Ana-the mom) to look after my two kids: a baby born (Mikel) and a two year old (Julen). At times, the only requirement I will have will be to sit for a while with them in order for me to do some other choirs in the house. The children care will basically involve playing with them, feeding them dinner, changing their nappies, bathing them in the evening and perhaps putting them to sleep from time to time if I am not able to do so. There is no requirement for cooking or heavy cleaning around the house, just dusting and vacuum cleaning 2 or 3 times a week in the living-room and common spaces. I will clean my own spaces. What is required is a decent maintenance of the au pair's bedroom and bathroom. We have washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. The schedule might change depending on the needs around the house. It will be different in Spring or Summer, since the kids have the Summer holidays in August. We can always talk about what works better for everyone in the house. The au pair will have two days off that she can enjoy however she likes, going out, staying in. If she wants to travel for longer we can do our best to reschedule the work calendar in order for her to be able to do so. It is all down to good communication and flexibility. No driving license needed or other further requirements.
