Only for Italian Au pairs - - - We are a couple of gently worn, older parents with a four and half years old boy: our latest magical adventure! Originally, one from Italy the other from the UK, we have personalities to match our culture of origin. Both graphic designers with a love for pop-surrealistic art, during our youth we have travelled and lived in different countries. We still enjoy sports like scuba diving and snowboards yet we are risks adversed. Our son is cheeky, extrovert, well spoken, food, books and music lover, Star Wars fan and lately football (soccer) fanatic. He gets along very well with children and adults and he is now in the "why" stage. The other two family components are the cats. Both very relaxed and sweet. One is completely deaf, the other a black gentle giant. We are looking for an independent young adult 22-26 who has children's teaching qualifications background, with a mellow personality and likes complementary to ours. Someone who is able to respect a young child point of view but understand and can correct defiance. Someone who loves reading books to children and teaching about the wonders of nature and human creations in an organic way, still keeping in mind children thrive on some form of more structured routines. Art and drawing, playing sports and singing. Playing a musical instrument (like guitar or piano), to accompany singing top of the voice, Mary Poppins’ songs, The nightmare Before Christmas or R.E.M. (but even Gogol Bordello, or Ezra Furman will do), is a GREAT plus. Must be food adventurous (or at least not too fearful),
Most tasks will revolve around spending time with our son and talk to him in Italian. Create fun routines for his games/learning sessions of writing, reading and numbers (in Italian. We already do it in english). Taking him to - museums, parks (sometimes it will be just the two of you other times it will be a family outing) swimming, skateboard or soccer classes and playdates. Help us strengthen what he has already learned (brush his teeth, put away his toys and laundry, be respectful of other people properties/work and of his environment , etc.) and teach him new tricks (tight his shoes, think about consequences of an action, etc). Organize and prepare with him lunches (most time it will be just the two of you) and then reorganize the kitchen. We like to live in a clean and casually organized home and expect everyone to partecipate in the tasks (the cats will not be very helpful though), therefore a spirit of team cooperation is very important for us.
