Hello you helpful, happy, responsible, independant and easy-going Aupair, who apart from loving kids, are also a lover of pets! This is not a full time position, so you need to be independant and be able to take initiative and perhaps look for additional babysitting/petsitting jobs as well. I'm a single Mum with an 11 year old daughter, a border collie and two turtles. Your main duties with us would be to take out the dog for proper exercise twice a day (about 45 min each time), handle the turtles, pick my daughter from school in the afternoons and take her home or to whatever activities she has that day and some easier household chores. Since my daughter is changing school this fall as she's starting the "middle school" in the Italian school system, I cannot give any detailed hours, etc., just yet. However, your main duties will be to take the metro and get her from school in the afternoons, give her a snack and/or take her home or to whatever activities she might have. In the morning, you need to take the dog out for a good 45 min minimum and just fix up a bit after breakfast, change water for the turtles, take the garbage, and get milk, etc. when needed. If my daughter is off or sick, I would have to rely on you to stay with her and cook lunch, etc., as I'm working full time, but hopefully that should not happen often! Sometime in the late afternoon or evening, you need to take the dog a second time. Normally you're completely off during evening and weekends, except for once/twice a month when I might ask you to stay home. I do not give any restrictions as to what time you should be home, etc. - I totally understand that you will want to be out and meet friends, maybe study Italian and enjoy Rome in general - as long as I can trust that it doesn't effect the work I ask you to do.
