We are moving to a beautiful new home just outside Brussels, next to the Sonian Forest, a vast 5,000-hectare forest on the edge of the city. We live in a village right next to Brussels — the capital of Europe. Although surrounded by nature, our home is only about 1.5 km from the Brussels-Capital Region and around 14 km from Brussels city centre. We are planning to have horses at our new home, so if you enjoy horse riding, you will be very welcome to ride and explore the forest. The area is also great for walking, running and cycling. You will have a bicycle available to move around independently, and you may also be able to use one of our cars when necessary. La Hulpe railway station is nearby, with easy connections to Brussels and other cities. At home, our everyday family language is French. Alice speaks French, Dutch and English, as well as some German. Edouard speaks French, Dutch, English and Spanish. We are very open when it comes to the language you speak with Rose. You can speak French, English or Dutch with her, but we would also be very happy for her to hear another language such as Spanish or Portuguese. Of course, she may understand it long before she starts answering you in that language! We enjoy spending weekends in the countryside, in the mountains and by the sea. However, as we will have just moved into our new home, we will probably spend more time there over the coming months while we settle in. The house is surrounded by woods and meadows and has both an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, so there is plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors and relax. We are close to our family and friends, and cousins and friends will occasionally come to stay or spend time with us. We would like our au pair to feel comfortable around them and, most importantly, to feel genuinely part of our family while still having her own independence and free time. About the parents: Alice works in Sustainability as a Bio Enginneer and Edouard works to finance Renewables projects generating or storing electricity. About Rose: About Rose Rose was born in spring 2025. She is a very sweet, cheerful and sociable little girl who loves being around people. She is naturally generous and already likes sharing her toys — and even her food! She is also quite a little foodie and is usually very enthusiastic when something good is being served. She is now walking confidently, although she is not yet speaking in full sentences. She is very curious, independent and loves exploring everything around her. She is also a bit of a fearless adventurer, so she needs someone attentive and responsible. For example, she already happily jumps into the swimming pool even though she cannot swim yet! She has a real sense of adventure and very little fear, which is part of her personality but also means that good supervision is important, especially around the pools, horses and outdoors. We are looking for someone who will genuinely enjoy spending time with her: playing, exploring, reading, going for walks, helping her discover new things and being part of her development. We would love our au pair to build a warm and affectionate relationship with Rose while also encouraging her growing independence and curiosity.
### What your role would be Your main role would be to help us with Rose and with some of the everyday life of the family. Alice works around **two to three days a week**, while Edouard works full-time. Rose also goes to a nursery very close to our home, so on some days we may ask you to **take her to nursery or pick her up**. As it is nearby, this should be quite easy by bicycle, on foot or, when appropriate, by car. When Rose is at home, we would like you to spend time with her: **play with her, read to her, take her outside, go for walks, prepare her meals and help with her daily routine**. As she is very curious and active, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with a young child rather than simply watching her. We would also appreciate some help with **light everyday household tasks**: keeping things tidy, putting things away after Rose or after meals, helping to keep the kitchen and living areas organised, and occasionally doing some light cleaning. We are not looking for a housekeeper, and these tasks would simply be part of sharing everyday family life. If you enjoy cooking, that would be a big plus. You could sometimes **prepare a simple meal for Rose or for the family**, and we would be very happy to discover dishes from your own country as well. The schedule will vary slightly depending on Alice's working days and our plans, but we want it to remain flexible and balanced. You will have plenty of personal time to study, meet friends, explore Brussels, enjoy the forest, ride horses or travel. Most importantly, we are looking for someone **responsible, warm and independent** who will become a trusted person for Rose and feel comfortable as part of our family.
