Warm and welcoming professional single-parent family looking for an au pair to join our home I am a professional single father living in Cork with my two children, aged 10 (F) and 6 (M). I am looking for a friendly, responsible and caring live-in au pair to become part of our household and help with the children’s morning and after-school routine. This is a 25-hour-per-week position, Monday to Friday, making it particularly suitable for someone who would like to experience life in Cork while having plenty of free time during the day. The role Your main responsibilities would be: Helping the children get ready for school in the morning Preparing breakfast and making sure they have everything they need for the day Taking them to school in the morning Collecting them from school at approximately 2:30pm Looking after them until approximately 5:00pm Helping with homework and keeping them entertained after school Preparing simple meals/snacks for the children Light household tasks relating to the children, such as their laundry, school bags and keeping their areas tidy The children are both school-aged and independent, so this is not a full-time childcare role. You would have approximately 5½ hours free during the school day, Monday to Friday, for your own activities, studying, exploring Cork or other commitments. I am keen to find someone who will become a positive part of our household and who will be treated with respect, trust and consideration. I also understand that an au pair is coming to Ireland to experience a new country and culture, so I would like the arrangement to work well for both sides. About the children The children are 10 and 6 years old. They are school-going, active and fairly independent, but need someone around after school to help with the transition from school to home, homework, meals and activities. Hours Approximately 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday Typical schedule: Morning: approximately 7:30am–9:00am Afternoon: approximately 2:30pm–5:00pm Additional child-related household duties: approximately 1 hour per day There may occasionally be opportunities for additional babysitting in the evenings, but this would be agreed in advance and paid separately. We are looking for someone who is: Warm, caring and patient Responsible and trustworthy Comfortable looking after school-aged children Organised and reliable Happy to help with light household tasks Respectful of family life and shared living Ideally experienced with children Legally entitled to work in Ireland A driving licence would be an must for school runs and children’s activities (Car with full insurance will be provided)
