Dear au-pair, our little family of 4 needs you! We are looking for an au-pair to complete our family for a couple months this summer 2023. We need a person who has patience and experience with young children, who can drive a car, is autonomous and isn't afraid of taking initiatives. We will ideally need someone who can also help around the house with light work such as organizing the kids room or helping one of us fix a meal for the kids. We are easy going, trusting, fair and believe in communication, so we expect someone whose personality is along the same lines. We are a happy Italo-franco family with 2 bubbly young children: Léonardo and Matisse. In our family, Mom is French, Dad is Italian and we speak Italian, French and English at home. We also have 2 lovely pets (2 dogs) but they spend most of their time outside in the garden area. We love spending time in the outdoors, exploring the mountains, going to the beach (Sicily offers amazing spots) and we hope our au-pair can join us and enjoy these outdoorsy times as well. If you feel you'd be the right match for us, we are looking forward to hosting and meeting you! We are certain it will be a wonderful experience and the children are also very excited about their new nanny :)
We live at the first floor of a large 3 floor-villa on the outskirts of Palermo. We are very close to the mountain and 15 min. drive from Mondello, Palermo's amazing beach. We are 15 minutes from Palermo's city centre by car. Our house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. You'd have your own independent bedroom and bathroom, with certain privacy and an access to the main patio. Palermo is one of the main cities of Sicily, Italy. It is a vibrant city where you won't ever get enough of the friendly locals, the culture and the superbe Mediterranean food. You'll also find plenty of amazing things to do! Beaches, parks, mountains, museums, it has it all. The children wake up around 7 AM in the morning and usually go to bed around 20:30-21:00 (might be a bit later in the summer as days are longer and it is bright out until late). We have breakfast altogether and prep kids for school during the week, or take our time on the weekend. The children don't have a strict routine except the fact that we usually make them eat at around 19-19:30 and give them their shower/bath around 20-20:30. Mom works sporadic hours during the week (she teaches English at a language school) and dad works in his office as a lawyer with a more flexible schedule. Daily tasks would include helping out with fixing meals, getting the kids to eat (they sometimes need extra "motivation"), get them cleaned up, dressed up, play with them and keep them busy throughout the day. You might also be able to borrow our car to get them to the beach or to the park if you feel like it. Some light housework help might also be needed such as emptying the dishwasher, organizing the kids' room, passing the broom etc. We expect you to be available throughout the day and you'll be able to enjoy 3h break per day around mid-day (13-16 typically). We might ask you to babysit if we go out at night, but once the kids sleep it is easy work - they don't usually wake up during the night. Your Sundays and Mondays will be free. Palermo being a city quite cheap to live in, we believe it fair to give you 70e of pocket money per week. Finally, we are not a cigaret-smoking family but we do smoke outside at night once the kids are in bed. We expect it not to disturb you.
