Hi There! My name is Alison (36), and I live in Bristol with my husband Tom (37) and my gorgeous (yes I’m biased :o) twin 2 year old boys Jamie and Ethan. I’m from Ayrshire in the South West Scotland and Tom is from Wiltshire in the South West of England so we’re already a multi-national family of sorts :o) We love our differences in background and life experiences as we think it makes us stronger as a little family unit. We’re independent, mostly easy-going and, we like to think, fun! Jamie and Ethan are good-natured, playful, funny and affectionate little boys. They are not identical and their personalities are completely different. They never stop surprising us and do things that make us laugh out loud every single day. They are toddlers and there are 2 of them so it’s not a job for the faint hearted or someone who wants to spend a lot of time sitting down but they have a fabulous daily routine that they happily comply with which is genuinely half the battle. They get up, eat their meals, still take a long nap in the middle of the day, and go to bed without fuss and so it’s just down to us to make sure the time in between is full of fun and learning. Everyone who has ever cared for them whether family or professional has said they are a pleasure to be around – we will be happy to give names and contact details for references for both the boys and us as a family.
We are looking for an au pair come live with us as a member of the family with their own personal space and time to experience all the fabulous things this part of the world has to offer. We will be providing a private room, all boarding costs including main meals and soft drinks and use of the family car (Ford S-Max, auto transmission) in connection with care of the children as well as occasional personal use of the 2nd car (Audi A4, manual transmission, licence permitting) if you would like. Our requirements will vary, dependant on Tom’s contract work but in a nutshell it comes down to: 1. Sole care of the children on days when both Tom and I are both working. Tom usually works between 3-5 days per week with occasional weeks off. 2. Joint care of the kids when one of us is at home. Usually 1-2 days per week with occasional full weeks. 3. Normal household chores such as laundry and general housekeeping, more so when Tom is home and free to take care of the kids. 4. Occasional evening / weekend babysitting. We would invite you along on family outings at the weekend if you wish but this would not be compulsory. We may also ask you to join us on family holidays in the UK and abroad.
