My name is Phil and I have two daughters Pearl (aged 10) and Amber (aged 8). We live in a small town called Reigate in the county of Surrey which is only 35 minutes on the train from London where I work as a freelance magazine art director/designer. Pearl and Amber’s mother died in 2012 due to cancer and since then I have looked after the children with the help of au pairs from Mexico, Spain, Poland, Holland, France and Ireland. We live in a comfortable, modern house with large gardens and is a short walk to the local primary school. Reigate is a pleasant, small town close to beautiful countryside and has good train links to London and the South coast (Brighton). Pearl and Amber are sisters who truly love each other and are a lot of fun to be with. Their personalities are quite different ie. Pearl is independent, sometimes a little shy, very creative artistically she can spend hours just drawing, painting or making things. Amber however is very affectionate, often cheeky and loves art too but is just as happy playing and talking quietly with her toys (she is a princess). Both love music as well as singing and dancing (they are of course, big fans of Disney and all the other children's movies). We are a very social family ie. friends and relatives frequently visit us on the weekends and we often go away visiting friends in London and beyond, and relatives in the South of France.
You must be serious about the care of children. We are looking for someone with a relaxed, mature temperament, an au pair who will truly feel comfortable as part of our family. Primarily you will help me look after the children mainly during the week: Monday to Friday. This involves getting the children ready in the morning, walking them to and from school. Sometimes prepare easy evening meals for the children (when I am not around) and help with organising their clothes, sometimes help with reading/homework. Although there is some light housework such as laundry and tidying up, there is plenty of free time whilst the girls are at school. PLEASE NOTE: We are looking for someone who is CONFIDENT, HAPPY, CARING, POSITIVE and ENGAGING. Someone who has patience, enjoys games, talking and playing with children. Reigate has many aupairs from all over Europe who meet up regularly via facebook group so there will be no shortage of friends and things to do like going to London or Brighton together. It is important for me that our new aupair feels happy as part of the family and is also happy to develop their social life outside of aupair duties. There is flexibility in the role of and the level of pocket money expected.
