My husband, Alex, and I are looking for someone to join our family for at least 12 months, starting on approximately 7th July 2018. Our first ever Au Pair, Camilla [from Italy], is leaving in June and we need someone to replace her. She will have been with us for 15 months. We have two sons, Artur and Luca, aged 3 and 1. My husband and I met in Brasil (I am Brazilian, he is British), and now live in the UK about 10 minutes drive from Lincoln, a pretty, historic small-medium sized city. We moved here about 2 years ago to be closer to my husband's work. His family also lives in the area, including his sister, with her husband and two young children, and his father and step-mother. Although we are quite close to the city we actually live in the countryside. We have a 5 bedroom house with a large garden and views over fields. Luca and Artur go to nursery two days a week and have some classes, such as swimming, to attend the other days. We are trying to raise Artur and Luca in a loving and kind way, with lots of affection and attention. We speak to them in English and Portuguese and Artur also understands Italian as our current Au Pair speaks to him in Italian throughout the day. We would want you to do the same. The adults all speak together in English. The boy's nutrition is very important to me. We follow mainly a vegan diet and I do my best to always feed them fresh food with lots of healthy organic fruit and vegetables. They are not offered sugary treats and/or drinks. My husband loves meat and so our meals are often not the same.
The main responsibility will be looking after the children but we are looking for someone that does not mind helping with the house work such as cleaning, laundry and a share of the cooking. We need someone who can drive so that you can take the boys to nursery, classes and days out etc.. We would ideally want someone who enjoys going outdoors, regardless of the weather. Perhaps the most important thing, other than being caring and affectionate towards the children, is flexibility. Usually time off is weekends and a few hours during Tuesdays & Wednesdays while the boys are at nursery. However, we have a busy lifestyle, particularly due to my husbands job [he works long hours and often travels for work] and so we need someone who is prepared to help out whenever needed, especially when he is away. I have not worked since I got pregnant with our second child but I am hoping to start again soon on the days when the boys are at the nursery [I am a photographer].
