We are looking for an au pair to help look after our two young children: a boy called Tom who is 1 and girl called Maggie who is 5. We live in Brixton in London which is a lively and exciting area in the heart of one of the best cities in Europe. We need an au pair to work about 25 hours a week helping with the children and doing some basic cooking and washing. We are expecting our third child in August but you will not be expected to look after the baby. We live in Brixton in London. Brixton is an exciting area near the centre of London. Brixton is full of interesting places to eat and drink, it has a good cinema and great live music venues. We live in a five bedroom house and you will have your own double bedroom on the top floor with your own bathroom, television, and sofa. We will pay £110 per week and provide all your food and a big double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom on your own floor of the house. Alexandra (the Mum!) does not work but is training to be a yoga teacher. Henry (the Dad) works for Walt Disney as a lawyer. We often spend weekends outside London at a house by the sea in Suffolk - so you will be able to spend time outside London, especially in the summer.
We would like you to work about 25 hours a week and one evening of babysitting from Monday to Friday. Things we might ask you to do include getting the children up in the morning (about 7am), preparing breakfast, taking the children to school and nursery (about a 10 minute walk), washing the children's clothes and preparing their meals, playing with the children, reading with Maggie, tidying their bedrooms (we have a cleaner so you would not be expected to do much cleaning), picking the children up in the afternoon, taking them to play dates or activities, helping with bath time and helping put them to bed. We want someone who is: • responsible and reliable • over 20 years old • enjoys caring for children and has experience of looking after them • speaks and reads English very well • energetic, organised and cheerful • clean and tidy • non-smoker (very important) • well organised and good at planning • pro-active and uses her initiative • flexible and a team player • can commit for a minimum of one year • independent and wants to have a full life in London • wishes to work flexible hours to enable her to study during the day • has no criminal record • can provide at least two excellent written references, with contact details If you can drive that would be good but it is not essential.
