We are looking for an au pair, or au pair couple, to join us for around six months from January 2018. I am self employed and have a very busy set of projects happening early next year so will need a bit of help at home with childcare. We live in a large house in the Kent countryside, less than an hour by train from London and ten minutes from Tunbridge Wells (which has language schools). Our house has a separate annexe (small cottage) so we can offer and au pair or couple their own place, with their own double bedroom, kitchen / living room and bathroom in a separate building to our house. It is very nicely fitted, warm and cosy and has everything you need. We would provide a car as driving is essential where we live. We have two cats that are allowed in the house, but not the annexe.
Mainly I need help with taking the children to school and back each day (our daughter gets the bus but needs a lift to the road end during dark winters) and our son attends primary school which is about 15 minutes drive away. I would like somebody to help with the school journeys, make evening food for the children on school days, and help with light house work (some ironing, tidying, helping out when needed - I do not need an au pair to clean in the house). There may be some times when I need to travel for work so when I am away I would ask the au pair to babysit the children until my husband is back from work in London (early evening) and possibly also some evenings too. Our children are older and quite independent - but it is important to us that our au pair is a good friend to them and somebody they feel comfortable with, can trust and have fun with. We have never had an au pair before - we are a very laid back family and very much looking for somebody who is fun, reliable and willing to fit in with our family. Because we have a separate cottage for their accommodation, it would very much suit a couple.
