Dear Au Pair, We hope that you choose our family. We are a young professional couple in our 40’s. We have a 10 month baby boy. He has turned our world upside down in a good way. We love him very much and consider him a gift. Whomever chooses to live with us will be treated fairly, kindly and with respect. Just know that we love our child very much and we want for you to do the same. We live in the suburbs very close to Washington, D.C. There is so much to do and see here that you will never be bored. You can spend weekends or downtime, visiting the mall, shops, museums, theaters and parks. We live so close to Shenandoah National Park, a great place to drive and hike. I expect you to respect our wishes, follow directions and listen to what we have to say. Tragically, we both lost our mothers, and so we do not have any mother figures around to give us wisdom and show us “old wives’ tales”. We hope you consider us for your next Au Pair job. TO DO LIST 1. If you are cooking a. Clean up the stove after you cook. Make sure the sink/drain has no food left over. b. Clean the dishes you used. c. Dry the dishes and put them away d. Only eat the food that has been designated to you. e. Take a look at the floor and sweep/vacuum up any messes. Also pantry floor as well. f. Any wet messes on hardwood floor-use Bruce cleaning solution and mop. g. Wipe hands with towel before you touch the stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. Wet hands leave stains on the appliances. 2. Cleaning a. Vacuum the kitchen, play area and family rug. Use the handheld vacuum for the kitchen rug. Family rug once a week. Rest twice a week. b. Wipe the kitchen counters down, twice a week. c. Clean his bottles every day 3. Taking care of Arhan a. Feed him every 2 hours 6oz of Formula. Please offer him milk every ½ hour when awake. b. Change his diapers i. Empty diaper pail as needed ii. Read to him 1-2 hour a day and sing to him. You can use online nursey rhymes and the books to read to him. Especially the alphabet and 1-10. iii. Make sure his water jug is filled at end of day iv. Fill his humidifier with water as needed and at end of day v. Cleaning his clothes 1. Use the “Delicates” setting and make the water temp is “cold”. Hit the extra rinse button before starting. 2. Laundry day is Friday. vi. Make sure there are enough diapers at the end of day vii. Make sure there are enough wipes in the wipe warmer viii. Prepare a bottle of milk and keep it ready at end of day. 4. Bathing baby a. Make sure that the water is lukewarm. And fill the tub. b. After every bath, rinse out the tub with hot water and dish detergent. c. Wash the sling, and washcloths and towels in the laundry every week 5. Your room. a. Do not treat it as a hotel room. We took great measures and love in building our home and expect you to treat it with respect. b. You have been provided with Lysol for the toilet, Pledge for the cabinets, Clorox for the floor. Windex is for the mirror. c. Make sure the bathroom and your room is kept clean at all times. Please let us know if supplies run out. d. Rags will be provided to you. Please place unclean rags in a plastic bag and place in laundry room basket. e. Do not allow hair to flow in the drains in the sink or bath tub. Collect and throw in the trash. f. F. Keep room clean at all times. We have frequent guests who request a tour of the house. g. Please do not put nails in the wall. If there is any damage, tain in carpet let us know ASAP so repairs can be done.
