Hello Au Pair! We are a family of 4. Jamie (36) who works in advertising, Rosie (38) who is going back to work in property development, Cara (3) and Samuel (1). We also have a dog called Billy (5) who is a cocker spaniel. So being a dog lover is a real bonus! We are a relaxed and easy-going family. But we are sometimes active too - we have to be with a dog who needs a good walk everyday! We are looking for an au pair to come and live with us, to be part of our family. We are sociable and would welcome someone who is social too, but equally you will have your own space whenever needed. We live in a small town/large village called West Horsley in Surrey. We are a 15 minute walk from the local shops and the train station in Horsley (40 minutes into central London Waterloo). Horsley village has a small supermarket, cafes, pharmacy, bakery, newsagents, small library etc. We like to keep fit and eat healthily, but also like a treat or a take away every now and again!
Cara and Sam are at nursery in Cobham, which is a 10-15 minute drive away and we would be looking for our au pair to drop them off there 4 days a week. So we're hoping you will be an experienced driver. Cara and Sam generally start nursery at 8/8.15am and need to be picked up by 5.45/6pm. Then on the 5th day of the week we would like you to look after them yourself. I have mentioned below what everyday life looks like whether Cara and Sam are at nursery or at home. As we mentioned, Billy needs a walk everyday and we will ask you to do this on weekdays (Monday-Friday). There are nice walks locally and we are very close to beautiful countryside in the Surrey Hills. If you are a runner then feel free to take him with you, or just enjoy a walk in the fresh air! Your average week: 4 days a week - Help get the kids ready in the morning from 7am and take them to nursery for 8am. I normally walk Billy straight after dropping Cara and Sam at nursery but it can be done at any time. You would then have your own time until 5.30/40pm when you would need to leave the house go and pick them back up again. We would then ask you to start the bathtime/bedtime process! Both Jamie and I would be back between 6.45 and 7pm each weekday And Cara and Sam go to bed at around 7.15/7.30pm. One day a week - A typical day, during the week when we are at home is: 7am - time to get up! 7-8am - get the kids dressed and have breakfast, tidy up breakfast and get ready for the day Morning - perhaps a local class, toddler group or play date 12 - lunch! 12.30-2 - Sam has a sleep Afternoon - play in the garden & the playroom and take the dog for a walk 5/5.30 - Kids tea 6 - 7.15/30 - bathtime, relaxing, story time and bedtime! We will not need your help at weekends (unless anything is arranged in advance, but this will be rare) With regards to housework, we wouldn't expect a lot but we would want you to clear up after yourself (and the kids when you help them with their meals) and help us keep the house relatively tidy. No serious cleaning would be involved (unless you wanted to do this for some extra cash each month!). We have a nice house with plenty of space. We spend lots of time in the main kitchen/living room and we have a separate lounge too so in the evenings we can either share our time together with you or have our own space, depending on what we all want. Within your free time we would encourage you to go into London and see some of the sights. We also have Cobham (small town) and Guildford (large town with great shops!) nearby. If you are looking for groups to connect with there are other local Au Pairs and language classes to improve your English (if needed!) and we will help with that.
