Hello or Hej! We are a young family living in Melbourne, Australia. Tomas and Christie live in their family home in Yarraville with their two children, Cecilia and Oliver. We are looking for a playful and active live-in Swedish Au Pair to join our happy family in August. Oliver is 1 year and Cecilia is 3.5 years. Christie is an Australian and Tomas is Swedish. We all speak English and Swedish at home however it would be preferred if our Au Pair spoke Swedish to our children during the days to keep up their skills in the Swedish language. They have a good understanding of Swedish however, they have a tendency to answer back in English! We live 7 kms from Melbourne's CBD. We are 10 minutes drive to the beach, we are 4 train stops to the city, we have a large backyard for the kids to play in and a local village filled with cafes, shops and cinemas only 15 minutes walk from where we are located. Christie will be working 3-4 days per week and Tomas, full time. The Au Pair will have their own private studio at the back of our property equipped with a large bedroom, bathroom, wireless and TV. In addition to great accommodation and meals, you will receive a wage of $200 per week. Hours we are considering would be Monday-Friday: Breakfast to dinner and the occasional babysitting on a weekend evening. We are looking for an Au Pair who is active, healthy, outgoing, fun and must have previous experience with babies and toddlers. We put a lot of importance on eating good food and having at least one if not two family meals around the table every day. Christie is a good cook
Ultimately we are really looking for someone who is going to bring the Swedish culture to our family. We are of course missing a lot of traditions simply because we are not living in Sweden so we'd really like to be able to share this with the right person! Our Au Pair must be able to drive. We will of course give you any support you need when learning at first to drive on the left! So you must be able to drive for this position. The role also includes some cooking for children, light housework, shopping, and assistance with daycare/kindy pick up/drop off. We would like an Au Pair who can start in August and ultimately stay for 6-12 months. We are looking for someone that will be part of our family, and someone who we could certainly stay in contact with in the future and perhaps visit when we travel back home. :-)
