Introduzione personale
My love for caring for children began at home, through helping look after the young children in my family. Being involved in their everyday lives, helping with their needs and spending time playing with them gradually developed my interest in childcare. What started as a family responsibility became something I genuinely enjoyed and wanted to pursue further.
This interest grew through my experience at an early childhood development centre, where I assisted with children aged 6 months to 4 years, and later during my teaching practice at a primary school, where I worked with children aged 5 to 15. These experiences have given me the opportunity to understand children at different stages of development and appreciate how unique each child's personality, interests and needs can be.
What I particularly enjoy about working with children is getting to know their little personalities, discovering what makes them curious and finding meaningful ways to keep them engaged. I enjoy listening to their stories, encouraging their questions, celebrating their small achievements and creating opportunities for them to learn through play, storytelling, arts and crafts and other creative activities. I believe caring for children involves much more than supervision. It means being patient, attentive and understanding, making them feel heard, valued and safe while encouraging them to explore and develop confidence in themselves.
This is where my interest in becoming an au pair comes from. I would love to become a positive and supportive part of a host family's daily life, helping their children learn, grow and enjoy their childhood while providing loving and responsible care. I look forward to building a meaningful relationship with the children and their parents, sharing my South African background, learning about another culture and contributing to a happy and welcoming family environment. For me, au pairing is not simply about travelling to another country; it is about the opportunity to care for children, learn from them and become a meaningful part of their lives.
