We are a family of 4, soon to be 5. I am from New York State but I live here in Scotland with my Scottish husband and our two boys. We are due in March with number 3 so we are looking for a bit of help in the spring, possibly into summer. We live on a farm outside the village of East Linton. My eldest has started school at the local primary school there, and my youngest goes to nursery 5 days a week, part-time. My husband farms here and I work with our holiday cottages and B&B that are also located here on the farm. This part of Scotland is beautiful, with beaches very close by, hills for walking and great access to Edinburgh. There are local train routes and bus routes that can bring you into city centre within 40 minutes. There are also some lovely seaside towns such as North Berwick, Gullane and Dunbar with lots going on there. We have a dog, an Italian Spinone, named Barley. She's very gentle and loves the children. She mostly roams the farm but she is always happy for a walk when offered one. It is not a necessary part of the job to walk her but if you enjoy dogs, then she will be more than happy to oblige! You would have your own private room in the house with ensuite bathroom all to your own. There is also wifi and tv in your room, if you like. We are a fun family and enjoy taking walks on the beach on the weekends, having friends over for lunch, playing in the garden, and trying to tire out the boys with fresh air! We occasionally travel up to the city (Edinburgh, 30 minutes by car) to take in some museums with the kids. There is a lot to do in our corner of Scotl
I would ideally need you to help first thing in the morning to get my eldest ready for school and onto the school bus (picks up at 8:30). My youngest then usually has some sort of class (swimming, gymnastics) or a playgroup that we like to attend. After lunch he then goes to nursery at the same school as my eldest. Some days I will stay home with the new baby while you bring him to his morning class, then onward to nursery school after lunch. Other days I will be able to take him myself (as I would like to do when I have energy!) in which case I would like you stay at home and do some light housework (putting on a load of laundry, washing dishes, sweeping the floor, tidying toys). If you enjoy cooking then this cleaning could always be swapped for preparing dinner or meals to be frozen. I am flexible, just need some help in the day to day running of the household so whatever you can do is helpful to me. You could have the afternoons off if the morning goes as planned above. Very occasionally, once the baby is a bit bigger, we would require evening babysitting.
