Liebes Au-pair-Mädchen! Wir brauchen Dich! We need you! We're a young family who will move to Mannheim in Autumn 2016. We're looking for help for at least 6 months, ideally from the second half of October. Mannheim is a modern lively city with great culture and restaurants. It is practical, and has SOME attractive parts! Only 15 minutes drive away is the beautiful university town of Heidelberg. It lies on the edge of the Black Forest and one of the finest wine regions of Germany. Strasbourg, in the Alsace region of France is only 1 and a half hours away. Paris is a direct train ride 3 hours from Mannheim. Frankfurt airport is 30 minutes away on the train. Please see below for more info! We very much look forward to welcoming a happy, kind and responsible Au-pair girl into our home. We are a family with mamma (Trine), daddy (Alex), a little 2 year old Matilde and a new daughter that will be born in October. We are moving to Mannheim in September 2016 because daddy got a new job as chief conductor in the Opera house there. Daddy comes from England, Oxford, and mamma comes from Norway, Oslo. She is an opera singer. As you understand, we are a very musical family with a very fun and never boring life. Alex works very much in a high-pressured and stressful job, and Trine needs a nice Au pair girl to help her at home and with the little girls. We are a very happy, young and relaxed family and we love a good laugh. Despite not being German, we both speak fluently and are very able to help you with your language development.
Your "job" in our family would basically be to help around the house mainly with the kids. We would also need you to be able to cook for them. You would also be required to do a little housework- just tidying up, though- there will be no expectation to do serious cleaning. Alex works most weekends and nights, so particularly important is the evening routine getting Matilde to bed, or looking after the new-born if mamma is doing it! Therefore, a certain flexibility in scheduling is required as Alex does not do a conventional working week. On the other hand, there will be plenty of free time periods in many days, when Matilde is at kindergarten from 9-15:00. We will of course be able to plan in advance what evenings Alex is around and when you need a free evening. We will be moving into a new, luxury renovated Apartment. It is on two floors with a front and back garden and large balcony on the rear. The Apartment is approximately 250 square meters. You would have your own bedroom next to Matilde's which will be approx. 5x3 meters large. There is a guest bathroom nearby, which essentially (when we don't have guests) will be yours.
