Dear Au Pair: We are a Mexican family of five and a little dog. We live in Mexico City, a very large and busy city where you will be able to learn everything about our culture. We live in a house where you will have your own room. The house is located in a neighborhood where you can walk to different shopping malls, movie theaters, stores, parks, etc. We are a young couple (Rodrigo is 38 and I am 33 years old) with 3 little girls. Sofía is 6, Renata is 4 and Maria is 3. They are a lot of fun and love playing together. They are active and like to dance, bake, paint and play outside; they barely watch T.V. Finally, we are a friendly family, who likes to spend time together. We like doing stuff with other friends with kids and go out on outdoor plans. We will be very happy and pleased to welcome a new member of our family and to learn from her culture.
We are looking for an au pair that loves kids and enjoys playing and spending time with them. The girls go to the German School and they are used to listening German. Sofía is already speaking a bit and we would be very grateful to have an older sister for them, who could help them improve and practice such language. We are willing to receive an au pair as part of our family and to share our culture with her. You would be helping us with the girls an hour during each morning on school days to have them ready for school (it is; getting dress, giving breakfast, preparing lunches, hair-dos and brushing teeth). You would have the mornings off on every school day so you can take a class, go to take a walk around or to rest yourself; it is your free time to do whatever you want. When the girls come back form school (at 2 p.m.) you would be helping us during the meal, then, preparing them for afternoon activities and coming with me to those. Then, you would be helping with their supper around 6 pm, their baths and preparing clothes for the next day, being off at 7:30 p.m. Whenever we have a party or any other activity, you would also be accompanying me with the girls. Your weekday off would be Saturdays, and on Sundays we would have a flexible Schedule in which we expect help during the morning (breakfast with the girls, playing and spending some time with them, may be preparing them for a later activity or so) it would be depending on the activities of the day. You will have a night out per week. This is a big city, and it is important to be safe and cautious with the time you come back home, therefore we would set a curfew. We would have to coordinate in advance about these nights out so that it does not match with one of the kangaroo nights in which we would ask you to stay with the girls. Also, you will have one full weekend off per month so you have chance to travel. The house chores that you will have will include making the girls’ bed, helping them to put away their toys and stuff, and having their clothes in place. We have a girl that also lives here with us and helps us with the cleaning and cooking.
