We are looking for a new full time live-in nanny or au pair to join our happy household in Shepherd’s Bush, W14, London. Our current nanny has been with us in Singapore and London for four years and is only leaving us as her visa has expired. We have two children aged 2 and 4 who attend nursery. Our eldest does five mornings a week at nursery school and some afternoons at nursery school too. The youngest will do three mornings a week at nursery school from January, going up to five mornings a week in April. This means we will need someone to take the children to nursery in the morning at 9.15 and pick them up at 12.30pm, and then look after them in the afternoon until around 6.30pm. Above all we are looking for someone happy with a very kind heart, who is friendly, loves children and is enthusiastic and fun and really wants to engage with the children, who enjoy arts and crafts, puzzles, reading etc. as well as going to the park and to playdates. We make occasional trips to the countryside and take regular vacations out of the UK so lots of opportunities for travel too. If you are interested we'd love to hear from you.
In terms of routine, our children typically wake up at around 6.45 / 7am and we get them up, changed and take them downstairs for breakfast. Our current nanny comes downstairs around 7.30am and helps give them breakfast while we get ready for work. I usually leave for work around 8am. My husband works from home so does not need to leave so early. At 9.10am the children leave the house for nursery (a five minute walk away) and get dropped off by our nanny. On a Monday and Friday my son doesn't go to nursery (he will go every morning from April), so he goes with our nanny to local play clubs, the library, park etc. Then our nanny picks the children up from school at 12.25pm / 12.30pm and takes them home for lunch. Twice a week my daughter goes after nursery classes so stays at school for lunch and dancing / art club until 3.15pm. If they are not at nursery both of the children sleep at lunch time for around 1.5 hours after lunch. My daughter goes to ballet (a two minute walk away) on a Monday at 3.45pm, and otherwise they tend to stay at home and maybe invite a friend round or get invited to a friend’s house in the afternoon. Our daughter enjoys doing arts and crafts and our son is only two years old and frankly enjoys doing anything! They have dinner around 5-5.30pm and then have a bath around 6.15pm. My husband and I then try to take over at around 6.30pm (or before if possible) and put the children to bed. What we mainly expect from an au pair is someone to look after and have fun with our children and prepare and cook their lunch and dinner. We have a cleaner to do the cleaning and ironing and would not expect you to do that. Our current nanny prepares dinner for the children that my husband and I can also eat later in the evening, but we can discuss whether you are happy/able to do that.
