Dear Au Pair: We re so excited to meet you! I was an au pair myself for two years before I had children of my own, so you'll be coming to a household of people who understand you and your situation. We have a fun summer lined up for the right person - days at the pool at our club, outings to museums, picnics at the park, and trips to the beach. We live in sunny San Jose, CA, just 20 minutes from the Pacific ocean and 45 minutes from San Francisco. The Bay area is beautiful and full of fun and opportunity. Our family is laid-back and funny. We pride ourselves on our loving spirit, our happiness, and our carefree approach to life. Holden is the oldest, 7 years old, and our little leader. He reads to the younger children, protects them, and encourages them in everything they do. He's our little hero. He loves swimming, playing Minecraft, riding his scooter and his bike, and making new friends. He's an outgoing and helpful boy. Shephard just turned 6 and is our family clown. He has a wicked sense of humor, and an iron will. He can be a handful at times, but he's the cuddliest, most loving boy when he trusts you. He's a video game champ, loves being in the pool, playing sports, and reading. He is artistic and crafty, and loves 1:1 time with adults. He's extremely smart - a truly gifted child. Harper is our baby girl, and she just turned 3. She is pure sunshine and happiness and rarely ever has a grumpy day. She loves the pool, loves to play dress up, and
We're looking for the *right* person. We want someone who will be proactive in taking care of the children, and who will be happy to jump in and be part of the family. Because mom was an au-pair, she has pretty high standards for the person who will spend time with the kids. Our au-pairs do the kids' laundry, keep the house picked up (we have a cleaning lady who comes weekly to do the deep cleaning), organize toys, and help them make their beds. It's important to us that the children participate in keeping the household tidy - they live in the home, too! They love to help with chores. Harper is a whiz with laundry and dishes, Shep loves to sweep and vacuum, and Holden likes to organize. Our au-pair will also need to be able to drive. San Jose is a car city, and while there are many places you can walk to, the kids get tired! You'll need a clean driving record and confidence behind the wheel. You'll have precious cargo on board! We also want someone who will work on school skills with the kids this summer for about an hour a day. Holden needs to work on his handwriting, Shep needs to work on math, and Harper needs to work on reading. Finally, our au-pair needs to have a clear sense of communication. If you're going somewhere with the kids, send mom or dad a text. If you have a question, please ask.
