My name is Simon and my wife is Johette (Jo). We have been married for four years and in March 2014, our first son, Cooper, was born. Unfortunately due to the costs of living etc, my wife has had to return to work after four months off. She is currently only working 2-3 days per week which is manageable for us and our babysitting arrangements, however by December it looks as if she will be required to work on a full time basis. I am a shift worker and my shifts are always changing and as such we will require an au pair to assist in looking after Cooper during the weeks and on weekends. Depending on my shifts, you may only be required for 2-3 hours per day, although other days you may be required all day. I'd say you will have a fair bit of down time to explore Brisbane and its surrounds. A little more about us... My wife was born and raised in South Africa and can speak both Africaans and English fluently. She works as a Registered Nurse at a local Doctors Surgery. I am employed by the Queensland State Government however prior to that I spent four years working as a truck driver in the Australian Army. We have never utilised the services of an au pair before, however believe it will provide us with an opportunity to make life long friends and provide Cooper with a stable and friendly environment within our home. We live 30 mins drive north of Brisbane on the east coast of Queensland Australia in a suburb called 'North Lakes'.
Our au pair would be welcomed into our family. Our son, Cooper was born in February 2014 and both my wife and I are required to return to work. I am a shift worker so our au pair will be required to look after Cooper mostly for only 3-4 hours per day, however sometimes, she would be required to care for him for up to 9 hours per day. Due to my shift work our au pair would also be provided with 4 days off in a row every few weeks or so.
