I am just starting the process of looking into the possibility of an au pair. Obviously safety for my kids is a great foundation. I want someone who is trustworthy, and responsible. I also want someone who is fun and will fit in with our family. Not everyone will fit in with every family, but we like the outdoors, arts and crafts. I like to read and write (way too much sometimes). My husband likes to paint and does astrophotography and macrophotography. My oldest is very energetic, and my youngest is very calm. When the weather is nice, I try to get my kids outside hiking or to the beach as often as possible. We live near a 25 mile bike path. We live in a fairly rural area. Our home is on 2 acres, and we do need to drive 15 minutes to most stores, or 30 to the health store. In the warmer months, we have countless farmers markets that are great to get produce at. We are about 1-1.5 hours away from Washington DC depending on traffic, and what day, and about an 1 hour south of baltimore. I just want to make sure that anyone who see's this isn't expecting a city... But if you like water sports, we do have a paddle board, and a kayak. Depending on where you go, most beaches are 20-35 minutes away.
I would need someone to work 2-4 days a week.My work is flexible, in that I choose what days and hours I want to work, so that is something we could decide together. I am also in school full time, and the days that I go for school are not as flexible. If it's a school day for the oldest drop off and pick up for my oldest. My youngest would either be at home, or part time preschool. I also work 3 weekend days in a 6 week period, and some holidays. This year I work thanksgiving. We have a siberian cat, because I'm allergic to cats, and he's a nonallergenic cat. We have a puppy now as well. On the days I was at work, it would just be nice to have someone either take him for a walk, or bring him the backyard for a bit. You would have the upstairs bedroom. It isn't huge, but you'd have your own full bath, and your own area.
