Dear Au pair, We are an Italo-German family. The father is German and the mother is Italian. We have 3 children: 2 boys, 9 and 8 years old and a girl, 5 years old. At home we speak mainly Italian and German. The children speak some English as we are currently spending a year in London. However, French remains their favorite (and best) language! All three children attend the same school nearby (about a 10 minute walk from the house). We, the parents, both work at the University, which is also a 10 minute walk from our house. In general, the whole family likes to do outdoor activities and excursions during the week end. If you wish, you could join us on those trips and thereby get to know the South West France (but it is by no means an obligation – you would be free to do what you like at the weekends, safe for rare exceptions when we might ask you to help with something, for example when one of the children has their birthday party, or occasional babysitting in the evening). During the week, after school, the children have various activities, namely swimming, tennis and piano. We are looking for an au pair girl who can help us with our 3 children during the upcoming school year (from early September until late June). We live in the city center of Toulouse, less than 10 minutes walking distance from the place du Capitole. We live in a house with a small garden and the house includes a small apartment which would be for you. We are looking for an au pair girl who is a native English speaker so that our children do not forget the language once we are back in France. This does not preclude the possibility of learning French, even within our household: since the children speak French to each other, you would be exposed to a lot of French, and obviously any interaction with outsiders would be in French, too. In terms of working hours, we would need an au pair girl who picks up the children at 5pm from school and brings them home or to their activities. We are usually at home by 6. Two days a week the children have lunch at home. In such a case we would need you to pick up the children from school at 11:30 and bring them back by 1:30. On Wednesday the school ends at 11:30 (we always picked them up at 12:30 though). On Wednesdays, we would therefore need you from around noon onwards until 5-6 in the afternoon. It is very likely that they would have some activity planned for Wednesday afternoons.
