My name is Leila Rukia, I am 23 years old and from Kenya. I was born and raised in Eldoret and studied Social Work and Community Development at the Kenya Institute of Applied Sciences. My academic background has equipped me with the knowledge and values needed to support individuals, families, and communities in a caring and professional way.
In 2023, I had the opportunity to care for my 1-year-old cousin, Nima Noqbile. I was responsible for feeding her, changing diapers, bathing, playing with her, and helping her fall asleep. This hands-on experience taught me the importance of patience, consistency, and emotional attentiveness when caring for young children. It also deepened my passion for childcare and strengthened my sense of responsibility.
Outside of caregiving, I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes. Preparing meals is a creative way for me to care for others. I also love travelling, which has made me more open-minded and curious about different cultures and lifestyles. These hobbies bring me joy, relaxation, and a sense of personal growth.
I want to become an au pair because I truly enjoy working with children and am excited to experience life in a new cultural setting. I believe this is a meaningful opportunity to support a family while learning and growing myself. I am responsible, kind, and ready to become part of a welcoming host family where I can contribute positively and create lasting memories.
