Respiratory Distress<\/strong> &#8211; your child\u00a0has difficulties breathing.<br \/>\nRespiratory distress is caused by choking, asthma, an infection, or pneumonia.<\/p>\n<p>The signs are: coughing, wheezing, labored breathing, grunting, inability to talk, or\u00a0turning blue.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You must call emergency services if:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; the rate of breathing is greater than 50 to 60 breaths\/minute;<br \/>\n&#8211; your child is turning blue around the mouth;<br \/>\n&#8211; the situation is not improving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Broken Bones<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is not life-threatening but you should take your child\u00a0to a hospital for evaluation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You must call emergency services:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; the injury is so bad and you can&#8217;t control the pain;<br \/>\n&#8211; the bone is sticking out of the skin;<br \/>\n&#8211; your child\u00a0has trauma to the head or neck;<br \/>\n&#8211; your child&#8217;s\u00a0consciousness is affected.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.findaupair.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/kid-broken-bones.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-388\" src=\"https:\/\/www.findaupair.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/kid-broken-bones.jpg\" alt=\"Little girl injured with broken ankle sitting on white backgound.\" width=\"657\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/findaupair.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/kid-broken-bones.jpg 657w, https:\/\/findaupair.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/kid-broken-bones-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/findaupair.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/kid-broken-bones-140x94.jpg 140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 657px) 100vw, 657px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Vomiting and or Diarrhea<\/strong><br \/>\nIf your child\u00a0becomes dehydrated (sunken eyes, dry mucus membranes, abnormally low\u00a0amounts of urine), he\/she should be seen by the doctor.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You must call emergency services:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; your child\u00a0is unresponsive;<br \/>\n&#8211; he\/she presents abdominal pain (this can be a sign of appendicitis or kidney\u00a0stones).<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Febrile Seizure<\/strong><br \/>\nIf your child\u00a0has seizure, he\/she should be seen by a doctor.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>You must call emergency services if:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; the seizure doesn&#8217;t stop after three to five minutes;<br \/>\n&#8211; your child\u00a0has difficulties breathing;<br \/>\n&#8211; your child\u00a0is turning blue;<br \/>\n&#8211; your child doesn&#8217;t feel well\u00a0after the seizure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Falls<\/strong><br \/>\nFalls are very dangerous because they can injure the head, spine, or internal organs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You must call emergency services if:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; your child\u00a0vomits more than once;<br \/>\n&#8211; he or she loses consciousness.<br \/>\n&#8211; the child complains of numbness or tingling.<br \/>\n&#8211; you suspect internal injuries.<br \/>\n&#8211; you suspect an injury to the neck or spine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Cuts\/Bleeding<\/strong><br \/>\nIf your child\u00a0bleeds, you must apply pressure on the wound. If he\/she needs stitches,\u00a0you have to take him\/her to the doctor.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You must call emergency services if:<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; your child\u00a0has a bleeding disorder;<br \/>\n&#8211; you can&#8217;t stop the bleeding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.
