You are definitely a good parent. Why? Because you read this article! But as you may know, being a great parent is not enough if you want to have a great child. What is? Well…we don’t have the recipe for that because it’s not a “one size fits all” thing, but we do have some tips that we know for sure that work in raising a great child.
Create a secure attachment between you and your child
Children feel the need to have a secure love bond with at least one adult. As a parent, you can facilitate this by listening and responding to your child’s needs. If you won’t do that you are less likely to raise a securely attached child.
Children learn from experience
If you yell at your child you basically teach him to do the same. Of course you can also teach him to be respectful by being respectful to him. This kind of parenting requires you to manage you own emotions. Do that and your kid will follow your examples.
Teach your child to manage his emotions
If you want to have a child that can manage his behavior, then you should have a child that can manage his emotions. How to do that? First of all, you, as a parent should accept your child’s emotions…even if sometimes limiting actions are necessary. In order to disappear, human emotions need to be felt, otherwise they can go beyond conscious control and start to pop unrestrained.
